Tribal Council Resignation and Appointment
Wunee Keesuq Tribal Family,
I wanted to inform you all about changes that have been made regarding our Tribal Council. Councilwoman Gonsalves submitted her resignation from Tribal Council effective May 7th, 2024. I want to personally thank Councilwoman Gonsalves for her dedication and commitment to serving our people. Over the years she has worked countless hours to help implement TERO law, establish the ethics working group, and serve as the Chief Executive Officer of I.H.S. Kutâputush Rita for all that you have done, we wish you well in your future endeavors.
Given this vacancy, the Tribal Council acknowledged the requirement to fill the vacancy for the Tribal Council seat pursuant to Article VIII Section(4)(a)(1) of the Constitution. Tribal Council appointed the candidate that received the second highest number of votes next to the person who vacated the office. Edwina “Winnie” Johnson Graham received 185 votes in the 2023 General Election, and has been appointed to serve as a council member on the Tribal Council. Thank you Councilwoman Graham for your continued service to this community.
Ahâpây,
Chairman Weeden
