Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Caucus Scheduled for May 4, 2019

AKWESASNE — The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Election Board will be holding the annual Tribal Caucus on Saturday, Onerahtohkó:wa/May 4, 2019. There are four (4) positions open: one (1) Tribal Chief, one (1) Tribal Sub-Chief, one (1) Chief Judge, and one (1) Traffic Court Judge #1.

The caucus will begin at 10:00am in the lobby of the Ionkwakiohkwaro:ron Tribal Administration Building, the floor will promptly be opened for nominations for each respective position. All nominees are responsible for submitting their required documents, and drug testing by the close of business on Wednesday, May 8, 2019. The “unofficial” list of all nominees will be posted by Friday, May 10^th.

In accordance with the Election and Referendum Ordinance, nominators must be an eligible voter and must:

• Be at least eighteen (18) years of age;
• Be an enrolled member of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe,
• Nominees for all elected positions must be present to accept or refuse the nomination at the time of the Caucus;
• Reside in the United States or in the U.S. portion of Akwesasne for at least six months immediately prior to the election and,
• Have their name on the most current eligible voters list.

The Tribal Election will be held from 9:00am. to 5:00pm on Saturday, Ohiarí:ha/June 1, 2019; with Early Voting conducted on Tuesday, May 28^th and Wednesday, May 29^th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm in the lobby of theIonkwakiohkwaro:ron Tribal Administration Building, located at 71 Margaret Terrance Memorial Way in Akwesasne, New York.

Home Voting will take place on Friday, May 31^st from 9:00am to 5:00pm by appointment only.  To schedule an appointment, please contact the Tribal Clerk’s Office by end of business day on Wednesday, May 29^th.
