Applications now open for paid, full-time program

PRIOR LAKE, Minn.  — For those interested in starting a culinary career, Mystic Lake Casino Hotel and Little Six Casino are offering a new full-time, paid culinary apprentice program. Mystic Lake has a large-scale culinary operation and a variety of jobs at its restaurants, including line cooks, lead cooks and restaurant chefs, and Little Six offers similar positions at its signature food outlet. This culinary career training pathway is for people who would like to learn how to cook professionally in the dynamic dining environment at Mystic Lake and Little Six.

The two-year program is comprised of four levels of six-month training periods. To advance to the next level, the apprentice must demonstrate mastery of the skills for each level. If participants feel confident in their abilities, they can test out of the levels early. The program offers pay starting at $14 per hour and increasing 50 cents per hour for each level passed. When completed successfully, participants will be promoted to a line cook position.

Mystic Lake’s Executive Chef Mark Stankey is heavily involved in the initial training. With more than 30 years of experience, Chef Stankey oversees the staff and food preparations in Mystic Lake’s eight kitchens, mentors culinary staff members, and develops new menu items.

“The culinary apprentice program is a fantastic way to start a cooking career,” said Chef Stankey. “This program is for those who have genuine passion for the culinary arts. It’s about building people and our team. I love it when people succeed and discover what they’re capable of doing.”

No formal prior training is needed. Interested candidates can learn more and apply at mysticlake.com/employment.
