Navajo Nation Vice President Lizer Welcomes the Public to Nitrile Glove Manufacturing Facility

WINDOW ROCK — Navajo Nation Vice President Myron Lizer joined Rhino, LLC CEO Mark Lee and nearly 200 people on May 18, in welcoming the public to tour and view the progress of a nitrile glove manufactory that is being developed in the Navajo community of Church Rock, N.M. Once completed, the factory will offer as many as 350 new jobs on the Navajo Nation.

The Navajo Nation Division of Economic Development is working with Rhino Health LLC, an international nitrile glove manufacturing company, to develop the Church Rock Manufacturing facility to begin production.

The event offered free food and refreshments and tours of the facility to the general public where workers are currently assembling heavy equipment to produce the nitrile gloves, which is part of the multi-phase project that includes an investment of more than $49 million from Rhino, LLC.

“I extend my appreciation to Rhino CEO Mark Lee for hosting this great event and for inviting our people to be a part of this venture that will bring much needed jobs and revenue for our Nation for many years to come,” stated Vice President Lizer.

The project is also partially funded through the New Mexico Economic Development Department, which contributed $3.5 million through the Local Economic Development Act funds.

“This project is a great example of what partnerships can do to bring economic opportunities to the Navajo Nation. We will certainly continue to support Rhino, LLC in this venture and we hope to see more development in Church Rock and nearby communities to help those needing jobs to provide for their families,” added Vice President Lizer.

President Jonathan Nez also offered his appreciation to CEO Mark Lee and everyone who attended the event.

“The Division of Economic Development has been working on this initiative for years and it’s exciting to see the facility being developed. The project is already putting our Navajo people to work in preparation for the production of nitrile gloves. Our office is also assisting by talking with entities and businesses to get them to purchase gloves from this facility once production begins,” President Nez said.

The manufacturing facility will become a supplier of nitrile to be sold to government agencies, medical facilities, and food and retail industries once completed. Navajo Nation is looking at options to further expand the project to increase its potential.
