Cinnamon Apple Season © Art by Mark Silversmith (Navajo) – “Living in a remote area of Navajo Land, winter could become a time of isolation, but each year a trader would come to the end of the road and bring apples to the family. Grandma would slice the apples, sprinkle them with cinnamon, and bake them on the stove, covered with an iron skillet. Cinnamon apples were a memorable treat for the family on a winter’s day.
