Digital Reporting Panel at Northwestern University

Published April 1, 2019

EVANSTON, Ill. — The NAJA board of directors will join the Northwestern University community on April 4 for an open forum panel discussion titled “Digital Reporting in Indigenous Communities.”

The panel will prepare journalists working in Indigenous communities to push past (stereo)typical coverage and toward stories that enlighten both Native and non-Native audiences.

The discussion will focus on the use of data, ethics and three-dimensional coverage to move newsrooms from viewing Native people as subjects of reporting, to understanding them as a complex, engaged audience.

The panel will be moderated by the Center for Native American and Indigenous Research Director Dr. Patty Loew, and will feature NAJA President Tristan Ahtone, NAJA Vice President Dr. Victoria LaPoe, and NAJA board member Graham Brewer.

Thursday, April 4
