Weetumuw School Transitioned to Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe
The Wôpanâak Language Reclamation Project (WLRP) and the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe announce that as of April 14, the Weetumuw School is no longer a WLRP language immersion school. The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe is pleased that the school will continue to serve the Mashpee Wampanoag community as a Wôpessori (Wampanoag-Montessori) school under the tribe’s leadership, focusing on preparing preschool and early elementary students for community leadership an academic excellence by instilling traditional Wampanoag values and learning Wôpanâak culture and language. Our school and language are vital assets to the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe and community.
