Town of Mashpee elections were held over the weekend, with Tribal Members running for seats on the Select Board and the Planning Board – key positions guiding the conservation of our land and water. Mashpee showed up at the polls, and both tribal members on the ballot were successful.

David Weeden was reelected to the Select Board with 902 votes, and Dale Oakley was elected to the Planning Board with 953 votes. Having tribal members fill these crucial seats in the town is critical to preserving our ancestral homeland for the next seven generations.

In other races, Michaela Wymann Colombo was elected to the Select Board,  Kevin Shackett was elected to the Housing Authority, and Cathy Lewis and Daniel Rodrigues were elected to the School Committee.

Congratulations, David and Dale. We are progressing and hope to see more tribal members on the next ballot.
