Program Offered to Introduce Native Students to Dentistry Field

BUFFALO, N.Y. — American Indians are vastly underrepresented in the dentistry field. While American Indians represent 2% of the total U.S. population, only 0.2% of the American Indian population apply to dental schools across the Untied States.

To combat the underrepresentation, the Seneca Nation Health System and the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine have developed a ‘Gateway to Dentistry’ internship program for American Indian undergraduate students considering application to Dental School.
