PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department has released the 911 call of unidentified woman disclosing the birth of baby boy to a 29-year-old San Carlos Apache tribal citizen at the Hacienda de los Angeles in Phoenix.

The call occurs about 3:45 p.m. on December 29, 2018. Phoenix police respond to an “infant code” call, or an infant in distress. Upon arrival, police confirm the baby was in fact in distress. At that point the mother and child were taken to the hospital where they are recovering.

The caller also repeatedly told the dispatcher they were not aware the patient was pregnant and that it was a “complete surprise.”

More than four minutes into the call, the nurse announces that they had signs of life from the baby, who is heard crying.

Caller: “The baby’s turning blue, the baby’s turning blue! The baby’s turning blue, the baby’s turning blue!”

Caller: “One of the patients just had a baby and we had no idea she was pregnant.”

Caller: “The baby is turning blue, we need someone now.”

Caller: “We’re not sure (if the mom is doing OK). We had no idea this patient was pregnant.”

Caller: “Is the baby breathing? The baby is not breathing, the baby is blue. They’re doing CPR on the baby.”

Caller: “Mom looks like she’s doing well. We had no idea this person was pregnant…We had no idea this patient was pregnant…this is a complete surprise. We were not expecting that.”

Caller: “Mom is doing fine…so far she looks stable.”

Caller: “Oh my goodness…how are we doing with the baby?”

4 minutes, 50 seconds into the call…

Caller: “The baby’s breathing, oh my God. Thank God.”

Caller: “That’s the baby crying. We’re getting vitals from Mom right now.”

The director of the healthcare resigned this past Monday and on Tuesday Phoenix police took DNA samples of male staffers at the facility.
