Mondeaux Recreation Site Project in Westboro, Wis., Valued at $1,015,000

LAC DU FLAMBEAU, Wis. — LDF Construction, part of the LDF Business Development Corporation (BDC), recently announced it was awarded a $1,015,000 federal 8(a) construction contract by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forestry Service.

This is the first contract awarded to LDF Construction through the federal 8(a) program, but it’s the fourth federal construction project LDF Construction has worked on for the U.S. government.

The expected six month federal 8(a) contract in Westboro, Wis., started in September. LDF Construction will restore, rehabilitate and re-roof the Mondeaux lodge, quarters building, garage, and a variety of other site work. Improvements will be made to the glacial springs artesian well site too. Mechanical, plumbing, and electrical upgrades, as well as historic restoration of doors, windows, chimneys, siding, and other historic features are part of the project. Site work includes new concrete sidewalks, exterior lighting, and a new septic system.

“Our customers, partners and suppliers trust us, which is evidenced in our excellent rating after completing one of our first federal contracts at Riley Lake Campground for the USDA,” LDF Construction President Randy Soulier says.  “LDF Construction has the talent, partnerships and scalability to design, build and manage any commercial construction project.”

Both state and federal government agencies offer certifications to encourage a diverse network of suppliers on government projects. In addition to being a certified construction contractor in the U.S. Small Business Administration 8(a) Business Development Program, LDF Construction also is certified to participate in the Wisconsin Department of Administration’s Minority Business Enterprise Program.

“The U.S. Small Business Administration 8(a) Business Development Program is designed to help provide a level playing field for small businesses owned by socially and economically disadvantaged people or entities,” says Shane Mahaffy, Lead Business Opportunity Specialist, U.S. Small Business Administration, Wisconsin District Office. “This program provides management and technical assistance, including business training, counseling, marketing assistance, and high-level executive development.”
