Indian Pueblo Cultural Center Receives $32,000 Grant for Business Development Workshops in Native Communities

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center (IPCC) is fortunate to have been awarded a $32,000 grant from the First Nations Development Institute (FNDI) of Longmont, Colorado to support the efforts of the IPCC’s cultural program, Investing in Artist Success.

Thanks to this funding, IPCC will further its mission “to preserve and perpetuate Pueblo culture” by providing professional development training to Native artists through two-day workshops in their own communities, helping them to make a living by practicing their creative traditions. The initiative will launch in February and conduct workshops at five Pueblo communities throughout New Mexico, ending in August 2019.

“The Investing in Artist Success program is yet another way that we at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center are working to invest in our Native communities and help our living cultures continue to thrive,” explains Monique Fragua (Jemez Pueblo), VP of Operations at IPCC. “We’re very grateful to the First Nations Development Institute for their support through this grant.”

Each two-day workshop will provide participants an opportunity to discuss the Native Art landscape and learn from experts on topics such as promoting oneself as an artist, creating a digital footprint, and providing customer service, among others. Professional photographs will also be taken for artists to use as they see fit. Upon completing the program, each participant will have developed tools to submit their work into art shows, build professional portfolios, and market their crafts to new audiences.
