BEMIDJI, Minn. — BSU and the Sanford Center hosted the Sixth Annual Native Nations Night on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at the Sanford Center in Bemidji. The BSU Beavers faced off against University of Alaska-Fairbanks in a hotly contested game that went to OT with Alaska coming out on top 2 – 1.

Billed as A Night to Honor the Native Peoples and Heritage of the Bemidji Region, the game began about 7 pm. Prior to the game was a flag song with the colors posted by the Leech Lake Honor Guard. Then came the ceremonial puck drop with tribal elected officials. Red Lake Nation was represented by Red Lake District Councilor Robert Smith, and Archie King, Secretary/Treasurer of the Leech Lake Council. White Earth did not send a representative this year.

Native Nations Night always includes discount tickets for all Natives who presented a Tribal ID to the box office the evening of the game.
