Welcome to Summer Law Clerk Andrea Snowball

At NARF, we are dedicated to supporting the next generation of Indian law lawyers. One way we do this is through our Law Clerk Program. Today, we’re featuring Andrea Snowball, a summer law clerk in our Boulder, CO, office.

Andrea (Andy) Snowball is a citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and is also Winnebago, from Winnebago Nebraska, where she lives with her husband and children.  Andy is a member of the Eagle Clan and her Winnebago name is Wakąja-pįga (Good Thunder).  She enjoys spending time with her family, attending powwows and dancing Ho-Chunk appliqué, cooking, and being active.

Andy earned her BA degree in Business Administration from Briar Cliff University in 2017, and received her AS degree in Criminal Justice Studies from Minneapolis Community and Technical College in 2008.  Andy is a third-year law student at Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, Nebraska.  She is interested in pursuing a career in Business Law, Environmental Law, and Food & Agriculture Law in Indian Country.

Before attending law school, Andy worked as a legal secretary for Fredericks, Peebles & Morgan LLP for 5 years. During that time, she grew increasingly interested in the practice of law and sought to equip herself with the legal skills necessary to work toward improving the quality of life for the people in Indian Country.

Last summer Andy worked for Ho-Chunk, Inc.’s in-house Legal Department doing transactional and litigation work to support Ho-Chunk, Inc.’s subsidiary companies.  She valued the opportunity to learn about the role sovereign immunity plays in Ho-Chunk, Inc.’s operations.  She is the current Treasurer for the National Native American Law Students Association (“NNALSA”) and  served as NNALSA’s Area 8 Representative during the 2018-2019 school year.

Andy appreciates the paramount impact that NARF’s work has on our tribal communities and hopes to serve the people in a similar capacity.  As a longtime advocate of recycling and healthy eating, Andy hopes to use her JD to affect changes in Indian Country that will improve the environment and the health of our people.
