AMERIND Risk Presents $14,222.10 to Golf Fundraiser Beneficiaries

SANTA ANA PUEBLO, N.M. – Recipients of AMERIND Risk’s 15th Annual Protecting Tribes Family Golf Fundraiser were awarded $14,222.10 each during a July 26, 2019 presentation held at the Santa Ana Golf Club in Santa Ana Pueblo.

Derek Valdo, CEO, (Pueblo of Acoma), presented checks to three organizations committed to benefiting Native American families and youth. They are AMERIND Risk Protecting Tribal Families Fund, Native American Professional Parent Resources (NAPPR) and Wings of America.

The money was raised at a sold-out 15th Annual Protecting Tribal Families Golf Fundraiserheld April 25, 2019, at the Santa Ana Golf Club in Santa Ana Pueblo, N.M. Net profits from the tournament totaled $40,866.30.

“AMERIND Risk is proud to host this annual event and to play a role in fundraising for charities deeply rooted in Indian Country,” Valdo said. “Each year, we are so impressed by the response to the tournament, the shared commitment to our fundraising goals and the quality of the Santa Ana Golf Club. The AMERIND team is already looking forward to the 16th annual event in 2020.”

A brief description of the 2019 recipients follows:

  • AMERIND Risk Protecting Tribal Families Fund assists Native American families who do not have homeowners’ insurance when they experience a devastating loss or unforeseen disaster.
  • Native American Professional Parent Resources (NAPPR) empowers, educates and provides services to build healthy children and families. NAPPR’s programs include Early Head Start with home visit services, dental support, a tribal home visiting program and an early intervention program that serves children who have disabilities, newborn to age 3.
  • Wings of America uses the cultural, spiritual and competitive legacy of Native runners to empower Native youth and their families. Wings programs encourage young athletes to get out and move on their ancestral lands. Apart from improving physical, spiritual and mental well-being, running and walking can help community members become better students, teachers, role models and stewards of the earth.
