COVINGTON, Ky.  — American Indians held a vigil outside the Covington Catholic Diocese in nothern Kentucky on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.

This vigil comes in the aftermath of an encounter between American Indian elder Nathan Phillips and a group of Covington Catholic High School students at the Lincoln Memorial after the Indigenous Peoples March last Friday in Washington, D.C. Video footage of Friday’s incident show Phillips being blocked by a group of Covington students, some of who were wearing red “Make America Great Again” caps.

Apparently, a favorite cap of Covington Catholics, a non-Native man wore the “Make America Great Again cap in the crowd.
