WASHINGTON — Representative Sharice Davids (KS-03) has been named to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Davids is the only Member from the Kansas delegation on this important committee.

“It’s a privilege to represent Kansas on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee,” Davids said. “This committee has jurisdiction over areas that touch every aspect of our lives – especially so in the Kansas City Metro area with its strategic position in our country’s heartland as a major transportation hub. I look forward to working in a bipartisan way to advocate formuch needed economic development and investment in our roadways, airport, railways, transit network, and local water infrastructure.”

As a White House Fellow, Davids was worked in the Department of Transportation under then-Secretary Anthony Foxx and gained valuable experience in transportation policy. She also has experience working in economic and community development—including bringing infrastructure to communities that lacked it.

The House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure has jurisdiction over all modes of transportation and other aspects of our national infrastructure.

Davids, a tribal citizen of the Ho-Chunk Nation), is one of two American Indian elected to the 116th Congress. She and Rep. Deb Haaland (D-New Mexico) are the first two Aemrican Indian women ever elected to Congress.
