SAN CARLOS, Ariz. — On Wednesday, Navajo Nation President-Elect Jonathan Nez and Vice President-Elect Myron Lizer attended the inauguration ceremony for Tribal Chairman Terry Rambler, Tribal Vice Chairman Tao Etpison, Tribal Council Members Bernadette Goode, Simon Hooke, Valerie Key, and Allred Pike, Jr. The ceremony was held at the San Carlos Event Center at the Apache Gold Casino and Resort.

Strengthening partnerships with tribal nations has been a priority for President-Elect Nez who also continued strong relations with the Tohono O’odham Nation during his term as Vice President.  Various tribes sit on several national advisory committees alongside the Navajo Nation and building tribal relations helps to advocate for one another.

“There are many issues at the state and federal levels that tribes can work together on for the benefit of our people,” said President-Elect Nez. “We present a stronger voice and can be more effective when we advocate together, especially on issues such as the Indian Child Welfare Act, water rights issues, gaming, and others.”

President-Elect Jonathan Nez and Vice President-Elect Myron Lizer extend their appreciation for the invitation to attend Wednesday’s ceremonies.

The Navajo Nation will host an inauguration ceremony for the next President, Vice President, the 24th Navajo Nation Council, Board of Education, and Board of Election Supervisors Jan. 15 2019.  Invitations will be extended to tribal nations to join the Navajo Nation as their future leaders take their oath of office.

“We also invite all our Diné people to join us on this special day. We thank you for your continued support,” added President-Elect Nez.
