Cherokee Nation Assurance Supporting Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Research Team

Tribal company assisting in battle against viruses and diseases

TULSA, Okla.  — Cherokee Nation Assurance is partnering with the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, Division of Viral Diseases, Viral Gastroenteritis Branch, to assist in its mission to prevent illness, disability and death through disease control and immunizations. The tribally owned company is conducting scientific research and providing administrative support to the national health protection agency’s Viral Gastroenteritis Branch.

Throughout the next year, CNA will conduct studies, perform viral gastroenteritis testing, assist in developing new vaccines and help further the scientific community’s understanding of the rotavirus and norovirus. The team will also present research and development data to CDC staff and participate in laboratory research, training and maintenance activities.
